It took a lot of digging to find the origins behind this unique bridge set. As far as we could make out the bridge case and the elements inside were produced by two different makers. The brown bakelite box was made by Seaforth Plastics based out of Southend on Sea during the 1930/40s whom we found multiple references for their logo online and via the Museum of Design in Plastics in Bournemouth.

The playing cards were made by famous printer and stationer De la Rue who were based out of London at the time and would have likely made the decks in partnership with Seaforth plastics (their logo can be seen on the backs of the cards). One deck of cards is still in its original 1930s tax wrapper!

Also in the set are four Printator magic notepads, made in England. Simply scratch the score on the pad and then pull the sheet out to wipe the board clean.

Box dimensions: 14 x 10.5 x 6cm

A lovely art deco styled set that is potentially the only one in existence, we have never seen another one quite like it, neither had the collector we acquired it from! The open deck of cards are immaculate, the Printator boards are in very good condition and the box has a polished finish with a few tiny scratches but otherwise is in very good condition. Grade 1 overall under the Hoyles Vintage Grading System (see here).
