Hear from our happy customers!

Interesting traditional game shop, specialising in chess, board games, playing cards, international games, and vintage games. The shop stocks a large range of chess sets, mah Jong, go, backgammon, magic tricks, jigsaw puzzles, children's board games, trivia, fantasy role-playing, stem, metal puzzles, playing cards, vintage toys and games. It's a real treasure trove of interesting stuff that will interest young and old. It's quite refreshing to see this kind of shop, instead of the usual over priced lego, blind bags, funko pop, LOL, Ryan's world, etc., that other toy shops seem to only stock these days. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love this shop ever since I came across it a couple of years ago. Their selection of traditional games such as Mahjong and Go are great and of a very high standard, and they've literally had every single game that I've been in to search for, and the service has been lovely every time. I've recently found that they're offering delivery on all of their online stock which is incredibly well priced, arrived quickly and was well packaged. I'd highly recommend this lovely little shop for any of your gaming needs!

I’ve been after an accurate Bladerunner chess set for years. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that Hoyles we’re releasing a new set - and simply had to get one. I spoke with Emily on the phone and she couldn’t have been more helpful. The set arrived on my birthday a few days later, safely packed along with a birthday card. Not only were they gracious and accommodating - they genuinely shared in my excitement - but the whole experience from enquiry to purchase should set the standard on customer service. Absolutely superb. The pieces themselves are exquisitely crafted, heirloom grade - made with a care and expertise rarely seen these days. No question - this is one of the best customer experiences I have ever had. AAAAAA++++++++

My wife and I visited the store in June this year. It was a brilliant experience. The variety of unusual games (board and others) is amazing. The service was wonderful. We will definitely return during our next visit to Oxford

Has every game you would want, from modern to vintage (I’m currently wrestling with a Rubik’s cube..) and beautiful chess sets and heritage games for presents. Very knowledgable and passionate owners.

A true gem of a shop! They have some unique games that you don’t see anywhere else in Oxford. Well worth a visit whether you are young or old (or somewhere in between)

Has every game you would want, from modern to vintage (I’m currently wrestling with a Rubik’s cube..) and beautiful chess sets and heritage games for presents. Very knowledgable and passionate owners, for book research recently I asked what would be traditional children’s games from the 1930s and got an instant answer!
