Take on the role of characters in your chosen setting and explore a fictional world fueled with your imagination. 

The flagship RPG (Role-Playing Game) is D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) in which one player assumes the role of DM (Dungeon Master), guiding their players through the fantasy world, presenting decisions for the other players. These decisions usually result in the rolling of dice to influence/dictate the outcome. The game is usually played as a campaign, (think similar to a tv series with multiple episodes).

At the opposite end of the spectrum is beginner friendly Fiasco. Played as a "one-shot", Fiasco is more similar to a disaster film with huge variation of settings to choose from and no preparation required.
