American Ambulance Great Britain (AAGB) playing cards - 1940s

€35,95

Unique playing cards that were produced by De la Rue for the AAGB in the 1940s shortly after the organisation was established. Originally would have been sealed in a distigusihable blue paper wrapper.

American Ambulance, Great Britain (AAGB) (sometimes wrongly referred to as the Anglo-American Ambulance Unit) was a humanitarian organisation founded in 1940 by a group of Americans living in London for the purpose of providing emergency vehicles and ambulance crews to the United Kingdom during World War II. The idea for the service came from Gilbert H. Carr during a meeting of The American Society in London shortly after the Dunkirk evacuation.

Includes an original pin/broach of the units cap badge.

The box is in fair condition and the cards are clean and unmarked, however there are no jokers. Grade 3 under the Hoyles Vintage Grading System.
