This is a rare William Britain lead chess set, dating back to the 1940s. This small set, produced by a company aptly named "Britains," features a design loosely inspired by the Staunton style. The chess pieces are elegantly painted in vibrant red and black. (similar to the sort produced by the "Rose Chess company"). 

This charming set is presented in its original card box, making it a delightful collectible for chess enthusiasts and a wonderful representation of mid-20th century craftsmanship. Perfect for both play and display, the William Britain Lead Chess Set is an exceptional addition to any collection.

All pieces with original, but faded green felt and a few nicks to the paintwork. Grade 2 overall under the Hoyles Vintage Grading System.
