A charming hand-painted cast iron coin box. The Artillery bank consists of artillery man and cannon, place a coin in the cannon, arm and press the small lever to shoot coins into the turret and a paper cap can be used to add sound while firing!
The original was made in 1892 by J. E. Stevens, this is likely a 1930s reproduction as has less detail than the originals and is missing a maker mark which was likely on the baseplate.
We believe that this one is missing a base plate where you would normally retrieve your coins from (as pictured) and unfortunately the soldiers arm is supposed to raise with the cannon is armed, the arm can still move, so perhaps could be repaired. Grade 2 under the Hoyles Vintage Grading System (see here).
