Game of Roots (G&E Hill) - 1978
In 1977 ABC Television aired "Roots," a miniseries devoted to the story of an African-American family through several generations, based on the Alex Haley novel of the same name. The series was hailed as culturally significant, and won several awards. Several games appeared afterwards, bearing the name "Roots." This 1978 version relates somewhat to Monopoly, with the addition of educational factoids about "crusaders" in the battle for racial equity, such as John F. Kennedy, Thurgood Marshall, and Abraham Lincoln.
Published by G & E Hill, it is basically a Monopoly-style game, used as a family history lesson!
2-4 players, 60 minutes.
