Biggles card game - c.1955
Produced by Pepys in 1955, the vintage card game Biggles is based on the hero of the popular adventure books by Capt. W. E. John. (The card game is based on eight of the 98 books featuring the fictitious hero.)
Having illustrated more than 90 of the books, Leslie Stead was commissioned to design these cards for Pepys. The image of Biggles in his flying cap, goggles and flying jacket with cravat is iconic, conjuring up images of the daring bravery of WW2 pilots. The other illustrations take you through his adventures across the world.
The game consists of two packs of 22 cards, one with blue backs the other with red. All 44 cards are in very good condition, as is the original rule book. The box is in good condition for its age, with all flaps intact.
