Reynard the Fox chess pieces

This Reynard the Fox set is based on the famous fable. The underlying framework of the popular medieval literary form is a series of stories linked by common characters: here, in Reynard the Fox, the character of Reynard provides the connective thread. (The Reynard fable satirises the royal court, the judicial system, and many other aspects of medieval life.)

Key figures include the lion, lioness, horse, monkey, bear and rabbit - and Reynard himself of course.

The hand-painted set is pictured on a 21" Osberton board (sold separately) and the antique finish set on a 24" Mansfield board (sold separately upon request).
