A lovely high quality mahjong set made for the American export market in the early 1930s, contained within its original wooden case. The pieces are made from bone and bamboo with the symbols and pictures finely carved into the bone. It is a high quality set with a good proportion of bone, approximately 40% bone to 60% bamboo, joined with a nicely cut dovetail joint.
There is a complete set of 152 tiles including 8 blank tiles and 4 rabbit joker tiles. Original tally sticks and a rule book are also included.
Tiles are immaculate and the box is in good condition, Grade 1 overall under the Hoyles Vintage Grading System (see here).
